2008
March: No Child Left Inside Statewide Conference held @ NC Zoo, Asheboro

September: No Child Left Inside Statewide conference held @ Marbles Kids Museum, Raleigh- Attendees call for the formalization of a state coalition.  Leadership Team established.

November – January: Leadership Team meets and develops the NCCAN! name, vision, mission & goals.

2009

March: Work/marketing plans developed; NCCAN! meets with national Children and Nature Network and becomes affiliate for N.C.

May: Logo created

June-September: Website and brochure developed

October: Website Launch event in Charlotte, NC.  Sierra Club and Richard Louv make guest appearance.

2010

February: Public Policy Workshop that was co-hosted with Environmental Educators of NC

March: 3rd Annual Conference; NC Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights Adopted

Served on workgroup to create NC Environmental Literacy Plan

2011

January: Reorganized internal structure of NCCAN! including development of 6 regions

February: Selected as one of five national “Designated Event Site” for Let’s G.O. initiative; Natural Leaders and Natural Teacher Networks in North Carolina begin

March: 4th annual NCCAN! State Conference; add 21 new partners to Coalition; regional leaders step forward to organize the regions

April: NC Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights introduced into NC House of Representatives; Host Let’s G.O. Rally and March at NC Zoo; NFL Carolina Panthers signs letter of support for NCCAN! efforts to get kids outside and active.

May: NCCAN! co-hosts Children and Nature forum with Conservation Lands Trust of NC

Sept: NCCAN! facilitates NCAEYC preconference day long session on children and nature
